Bayer Schering
Bayer Schering Pharma, formerly known as Schering AG, was a pharmaceutical company that was acquired by Bayer AG in 2006. Schering AG was a German pharmaceutical company with a long history dating back to the 19th century, known for its innovations in hormone and contraceptive research.
After the acquisition by Bayer, the pharmaceutical division of Schering AG was integrated into Bayer's operations, becoming Bayer Schering Pharma. This merger strengthened Bayer's position in the pharmaceutical industry and expanded its product portfolio.
Bayer Schering Pharma was responsible for the development, manufacturing, and marketing of a wide range of pharmaceutical products, including medications for cardiovascular diseases, oncology, women's health, and diagnostic imaging agents.
In 2011, Bayer discontinued the use of the Schering name for its pharmaceutical division, and it is now simply known as Bayer Pharma AG. The acquisition of Schering AG by Bayer remains one of the significant events in the pharmaceutical industry, resulting in the consolidation of two major players in the market.
